Deep Tissue Technique: Quadratus Lumborum

The details for setting up your person on the table for a QL release is very important to fully access the mayo-fascia of the QL and to help you have good and safe body mechanics. This technique requires you patiently hold positions to allow "it to let go". The three triggers points that we sustain compression to are key so go slow and light so that you can go as deep as needed to achieve a four finger (sometime just three depending on your size of hand) distance between the last rib and the Iliac Crest. Remember to check in for a pain level no higher than a 4 out of 10 and make sure your care recipient is deep breathing through their nose.
